My principal inspiration for my paintings is light and seasonal change. Nature is the ‘canvas’ for these subjects. Nature not only provides the textures and colours provided by light and season, but also the deeper poetic. My attempts to communicate these themes become more defined as I progress in my techniques and my responses to nature. As an artist, my goal is not to render a scene or subject solely for its inherent qualities, but to imbue the emotional expressions illicited by nature.
